George Brady (born Jiří Brady on February 9, 1928, in Nové Město na Moravě, Czechoslovakia; died January 11, 2019, in Toronto, Canada) was a Czechoslovakian-born Canadian Holocaust survivor, businessman, and educator. He survived the Theresienstadt ghetto and Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, where most of his family, including his younger sister Hana, perished. After the war, he moved to Canada in 1951, where he established a successful plumbing and heating business. His life gained international attention through the children's book 'Hana's Suitcase' (2002) by Karen Levine, which tells the story of his sister Hana and the efforts of Fumiko Ishioka, a Japanese Holocaust educator, to learn about her. Following the book's success, George Brady became a prominent speaker, traveling the world to share his experiences of the Holocaust, promote tolerance, and educate new generations. He dedicated many years to this work, emphasizing the importance of remembrance and understanding.
