Edouard Narboux is an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) at Télécom Physique Strasbourg, part of the University of Strasbourg, and a researcher at the ICube laboratory in the AVR (Automation, Vision & Robotics) team. He obtained his PhD in Robotics from the University of Rennes 1 (IRISA/INRIA Rennes) in 2007, with a thesis focused on vision-based robot control. His research interests are centered around robotics, computer vision, visual servoing, sensor-based control, human-robot interaction, and autonomous systems. He is one of the main developers and maintainers of the ViSP (Visual Servoing Platform) library, an open-source modular software that allows fast development of robotics applications based on visual tracking and visual servoing. His work often involves developing algorithms for mobile manipulators and humanoid robots to enhance their perception and interaction capabilities in complex environments.
Edouard Narboux's work history includes a series of influential roles in various companies. Here is a detailed list of his professional journey:
Completed his doctoral studies in 2007 from the University of Rennes 1, with a thesis titled 'Contributions to vision-based robot control,' which laid foundational work for his expertise in visual servoing.
Awarded the HDR in 2016 from the University of Strasbourg for his work on 'Visual servoing for humanoids and mobile manipulators.' The HDR is the highest French academic qualification, recognizing his ability to supervise doctoral research and lead significant research projects.
Significantly contributes to the development, maintenance, and dissemination of ViSP, an open-source C++ library for visual tracking and visual servoing, widely used in academic research and industrial applications.
Serves as Maître de Conférences at Télécom Physique Strasbourg, teaching and mentoring students in engineering, robotics, and computer vision, while actively conducting research at the ICube laboratory.
Authored and co-authored a significant number of peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals and conferences in the fields of robotics and computer vision, contributing to the scientific advancement of these areas.
