Yleisradio Oy (Yle) is Finland's national public service broadcasting company. Wholly owned by the Finnish state, Yle operates four television channels, six radio channels and services, and a comprehensive online presence with Yle Areena, one of Finland's most popular streaming services. Yle's mission is to provide all Finns with equal opportunities for information, education, experiences, and entertainment. It produces content in Finnish, Swedish (through Svenska Yle), and to some extent in Sámi, Romani, Russian, Ukrainian and English. Yle is funded primarily by a public broadcasting tax (Yle tax) collected from citizens and corporations, ensuring its editorial independence.
Serves as the central hub for Yleisradio's nationwide operations, including top-level management, core news production, broadcasting for multiple TV and radio channels, and development of digital services.
The Pasila campus includes Iso Paja (main administrative and studio building), Mediatalo (Media House), modern TV and radio studios, extensive production facilities, and the new 'Huippu' office building. It's a significant media landmark in Helsinki.
A dynamic and mission-driven environment focused on public service, journalistic integrity, and creative content production. Emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and Finnish language and culture, with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
As the heart of Finland's national public broadcaster, the Pasila HQ is crucial for providing reliable news, diverse programming, and cultural content to the entire nation, playing a key role in Finnish democracy and societal discourse.
Yleisradio primarily serves audiences in Finland and the Finnish diaspora. Its global presence is mainly characterized by its network of foreign correspondents in key international locations (e.g., Brussels, Washington D.C., Moscow, Beijing, Nairobi, London) who provide Finnish perspectives on global events. Yle also participates in international co-productions, particularly within the Nordic region (Nordvision), and makes some of its content (like Yle News in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, and Sámi content via Yle Sápmi) available globally online through Yle Areena and its news websites. It is an active member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and other international public media organizations, contributing to and benefiting from global media collaboration and content exchange.
