The University of Central Asia (UCA) is a private, not-for-profit, secular university founded in 2000 through an international treaty signed by His Highness the Aga Khan and the Presidents of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Kazakhstan. UCA's mission is to promote the social and economic development of Central Asia, particularly its mountain societies, while helping the diverse peoples of the region preserve and draw upon their rich cultural traditions as assets for the future. It operates three fully residential campuses in Naryn (Kyrgyz Republic), Khorog (Tajikistan), and Tekeli (Kazakhstan), alongside the Aga Khan Humanities Project, a School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) with learning centres across the region, and a Graduate School of Development.
Serves as the primary administrative and coordination hub for the University's multi-campus operations, strategic planning, academic oversight, and international partnerships.
Modern office facilities designed for efficient university administration and international collaboration.
A mission-driven environment fostering collaboration, academic excellence, and a commitment to the development of Central Asia. Emphasizes multiculturalism and international standards.
Centralizes the governance and strategic direction of a unique multi-country university model, ensuring cohesive development and quality across all its entities.
While its core operations and campuses are rooted in Central Asia (Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan), the University of Central Asia maintains a significant global presence through international academic partnerships with universities and institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia for curriculum development, faculty exchange, research collaboration, and student mobility. Its founding by His Highness the Aga Khan and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) also connects it to a worldwide network of development agencies and educational institutions.
