The Wildlife Trusts is a grassroots movement of people from a wide range of backgrounds and all walks of life, who believe that we need nature and nature needs us. It is a federation of 46 independent wildlife conservation charities covering the whole of the UK, the Isle of Man and Alderney. They work to save wildlife and wild places, and to bring people closer to nature. Collectively, The Wildlife Trusts care for over 2,300 nature reserves, engage millions of people in their work through events and volunteering, and campaign for policies that better protect the natural world. Their vision is for a UK rich in wildlife, where nature is recovering, and everyone can experience and value it.
Serves as the national office providing strategic guidance, fundraising support, policy advocacy, and coordination for the 46 independent Wildlife Trusts across the UK.
The Kiln is a distinctive historic building, a former Victorian maltings, sympathetically converted into modern office space, reflecting a commitment to heritage and sustainability.
A collaborative, passionate, and mission-driven environment focused on conservation, advocacy, and supporting the wider network of Trusts. Employees are typically deeply committed to wildlife and environmental causes.
The Newark HQ acts as the central hub for national campaigns, policy influence on UK-wide environmental issues, and ensures a unified voice for the federated Trusts on critical conservation matters.
The Wildlife Trusts' primary operational focus is within the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), the Isle of Man, and Alderney. While their direct conservation work is UK-based, they contribute to global conservation efforts through policy advocacy on international environmental agreements, sharing best practices, and supporting campaigns that address global biodiversity loss and climate change, recognizing the interconnectedness of ecosystems.
