The Learning Center for the Deaf (TLC) is a nationally recognized, non-profit organization providing a comprehensive range of educational, therapeutic, and support services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals from infancy through adulthood. From an end-user perspective, TLC offers a supportive, bilingual (American Sign Language and English) environment where students thrive academically and socially. Families find expert guidance through early intervention programs, audiology services, and mental health support. The community benefits from ASL classes, interpreting services, and a vibrant hub for Deaf culture. TLC is committed to empowering deaf and hard of hearing individuals to lead fulfilling and successful lives.
The headquarters serves as the central hub for all educational programs (Early Childhood Center, Elementary, Middle, High School, and Walden School), administrative operations, audiology clinic, mental health services, community programs, and professional development initiatives.
The campus is specifically designed to be visually accessible and conducive to learning for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. It includes modern classrooms, a state-of-the-art audiology clinic, extensive playgrounds, athletic facilities, a library, and dedicated spaces for arts and vocational training. The Walden School, a therapeutic residential program, is also located on this campus.
The work culture at TLC's headquarters is mission-driven, collaborative, and deeply rooted in Deaf culture and bilingualism (ASL/English). Staff experience a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, working alongside passionate colleagues dedicated to the success and well-being of students and clients. It's a place where communication in ASL is prevalent and valued.
The Framingham headquarters is highly significant as one of the largest and most comprehensive centers for Deaf education and services in New England. It's a vital resource for the Deaf community, offering a continuum of care and fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging.
The Learning Center for the Deaf primarily focuses its comprehensive services within Massachusetts and the New England region of the United States.
