The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. GBFB's mission is to end hunger here by distributing fresh, nutritious food to people in need across Eastern Massachusetts through a network of approximately 600 dedicated food distribution partners and direct service programs. GBFB provides meals for children, seniors, families, and individuals, focusing on healthy food options and addressing the root causes of hunger. They also advocate for policies to create food-secure communities.
Serves as the central hub for food sourcing, warehousing, and distribution logistics for GBFB's network. It also houses administrative offices, volunteer operations, and community engagement programs.
The 117,000-square-foot Yawkey Distribution Center features state-of-the-art refrigeration and freezer capacity, a large volunteer processing center, and efficient loading docks for high-volume operations.
A mission-driven environment focused on collaboration, compassion, and efficiency. Employees and volunteers work together with a shared commitment to alleviating hunger in the community.
The headquarters is critical to GBFB's ability to acquire, store, and distribute millions of pounds of food annually, directly impacting food security for hundreds of thousands of people in the region.
The Greater Boston Food Bank focuses its efforts on serving communities across Eastern Massachusetts. While not operating globally, GBFB is a key leader in the regional and national hunger-relief network, affiliated with Feeding America, the nationwide network of food banks, and plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity within its designated service area.
