Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC) is a statewide association established in 1941, representing the interests of 76 electric cooperatives that provide electricity to more than 3 million Texans across 211 counties. TEC offers a wide range of services to its member cooperatives, including governmental affairs and advocacy at state and federal levels, safety and training programs, a communications division that publishes Texas Co-op Power magazine (the largest circulation monthly magazine in Texas), and a manufacturing and distribution services division supplying utility equipment. TEC's mission is to support its members in providing reliable, affordable, and safe electric power to their consumer-members.
Serves as the central administrative, advocacy, communications, and member support hub for the association.
Modern office facilities in downtown Austin, facilitating easy access to state legislative and regulatory bodies.
Collaborative, member-focused, and mission-driven, with an emphasis on service, integrity, and expertise in the electric cooperative industry.
The Austin headquarters is pivotal for TEC's role in representing Texas electric cooperatives before the Texas Legislature, Public Utility Commission of Texas, and ERCOT.
Texas Electric Cooperatives operates primarily within the state of Texas, serving its member cooperatives. Its focus is statewide and national (through affiliation with NRECA) rather than global. It does not have international offices or direct global operations.
