The Community comprises two distinct Native American tribes: the Pima ('Akimel O'odham' or River People) and the Maricopa ('Xalychidom Piipaash' or People Who Live Toward the Water). SRPMIC is dedicated to self-governance, cultural preservation, providing comprehensive services to its members, and managing a diverse portfolio of economic enterprises that benefit the Community and the surrounding region. These enterprises include hospitality, gaming, recreation, and retail.

The Two Waters Complex is a modern administrative campus designed to reflect the Community's culture and values, often incorporating natural elements and artwork significant to the Pima and Maricopa people. It houses various governmental departments.
The work culture at SRPMIC's headquarters is mission-driven, focusing on serving the Community members and upholding tribal sovereignty. It's a professional environment characterized by dedication to public service, cultural respect, and collaboration across diverse departments aimed at improving the well-being and future of the Community.

It's where crucial decisions are made regarding policy, resource management, economic development, and the provision of essential services like healthcare, education, and housing for its members.
As a sovereign tribal nation within the United States, SRPMIC's 'global presence' is primarily manifested through its self-governance, extensive local and regional economic impact, cultural outreach, and intergovernmental relations. The Community manages its own lands, resources, and government services, including education, healthcare, public safety, and judicial systems. Its various enterprises attract national and international visitors, contributing to the regional economy.
