Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is the national governing body for the sport of rowing in Canada. Established in 1880 as the Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen, RCA is dedicated to promoting and developing rowing at all levels, from grassroots participation to high-performance international competition. The organization supports athletes, coaches, and umpires, hosts national championships, and manages Canada's national rowing teams that compete at World Championships, Olympic Games, and Paralympic Games. RCA strives for excellence on and off the water, fostering a strong and inclusive rowing community across the nation.
Serves as the primary administrative and governance center for Rowing Canada Aviron, coordinating national programs, managing operations, stakeholder relations, and supporting the Canadian rowing community.
The office is strategically located within the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) on the Camosun College Interurban campus. This provides RCA staff and visiting athletes with potential access to state-of-the-art training facilities, sport science services, and a collaborative environment with other sports organizations. PISE itself is a modern facility designed to support athletic development.
A collaborative and passionate environment focused on advancing the sport of rowing in Canada. The culture emphasizes teamwork, dedication to athlete support, integrity, and a commitment to achieving excellence in Canadian rowing on the world stage.
The Victoria headquarters is central to RCA's strategic planning, national team administration, and operational management, facilitating communication and support for athletes, coaches, clubs, and provincial rowing associations across Canada.
Rowing Canada Aviron actively participates in the global rowing community by developing and sending national teams to compete in international regattas, including World Rowing Cups, World Rowing Championships (U19, U23, Senior), the Olympic Games, and Paralympic Games. The organization also engages with World Rowing (the international rowing federation) on governance matters, anti-doping initiatives, and sport development programs. RCA collaborates with other national rowing federations to share knowledge and advance the sport worldwide.
