The Posse Foundation is a comprehensive college access and youth leadership development program. Founded in 1989, Posse identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Posse extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. Posse partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships. Posse's goals are to expand the pool from which top colleges and universities can recruit outstanding young leaders from diverse backgrounds, to help these institutions build more interactive campus environments, and to ensure that Posse Scholars persist and graduate so they can take on leadership positions in the workforce.
The national headquarters serves as the central administrative office, overseeing program development, national partnerships, fundraising, communications, and strategic direction for all Posse sites across the country.
Located in a historic skyscraper on Wall Street, the office space is designed to be functional and collaborative, supporting the foundation's mission-driven work. Proximity to major transportation hubs.
The work culture at Posse HQ is mission-driven, passionate, and collaborative. Staff are dedicated to educational equity and youth leadership development, fostering an environment of mutual respect and high expectations.
The New York City headquarters is significant as it is the birthplace of the Posse model and continues to be the nerve center for its national expansion and impact.
The Posse Foundation currently operates primarily within the United States, with a national office in New York City and program sites in 10 major U.S. cities: Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, and Washington, D.C. Additionally, Posse runs a Virtual Program to reach students in other areas. While its physical presence is U.S.-based, its model of identifying and supporting diverse student leaders has garnered international interest and has the potential for global applicability in various educational contexts. The foundation supports scholars attending partner colleges and universities across the U.S.
