North Ottawa Community Health System (NOCHS) has a rich history of providing dedicated healthcare services to the communities of North Ottawa County and surrounding areas in Michigan. Founded on the principle of community-focused care, its central facility, North Ottawa Community Hospital, served as a cornerstone for local health for over a century. In October 2022, North Ottawa Community Health System joined Trinity Health Michigan, a regional Catholic health system. Subsequently, in April 2023, North Ottawa Community Hospital was rebranded as Trinity Health Grand Haven. This integration aims to enhance healthcare access, expand specialty services, and ensure a sustainable future for compassionate, quality care in the region. While now operating under the Trinity Health Grand Haven name, the legacy and community focus of the original North Ottawa Community Health System remain integral to its mission of serving West Michigan.
The headquarters historically housed the primary acute care hospital and administrative offices for the health system, offering emergency services, inpatient/outpatient care, surgical services, and specialized medical treatments. This function continues under Trinity Health Grand Haven.
The campus includes a full-service hospital, emergency department, birthing center, diagnostic imaging, and various outpatient clinics. As Trinity Health Grand Haven, it benefits from system-wide investments in technology and facilities.
The work culture has historically been community-oriented, emphasizing compassionate patient care and collaboration. As part of Trinity Health, this is complemented by core values of reverence, commitment to those who are poor, justice, stewardship, and integrity.
The facility has been the primary healthcare provider for the Grand Haven area and North Ottawa County for generations. Its integration into Trinity Health Michigan secures its future and enhances its capability to serve the community.
North Ottawa Community Health System's operations were primarily focused on serving the regional communities of North Ottawa County and West Michigan. It did not have a global presence. Its mission was deeply rooted in local community healthcare. Now, as part of Trinity Health Michigan, which itself is a member of the nationwide Trinity Health system (one of the largest not-for-profit Catholic health systems in the U.S.), it is connected to a much larger network, benefiting from national expertise and resources while maintaining its local service delivery in and around Grand Haven.
