The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is the largest state public power organization in the United States, operating 16 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission lines. Its main mission is to power the economic growth of New York State by providing clean, low-cost, and reliable energy. NYPA finances its projects through bond sales to private investors and does not use state tax revenues. A national leader in promoting energy efficiency and the development of clean energy technologies, NYPA provides electricity to government agencies, community-owned electric systems, job-producing businesses, private utilities for resale, and to neighboring states under federal requirements.
Serves as the central administrative and operational hub, directing strategic planning, financial management, engineering, and policy implementation for NYPA's extensive energy infrastructure.
Modern office facility designed for efficient operations and collaboration, strategically located in White Plains with good access to transportation networks. It houses advanced energy control centers and technology development labs.
A professional and mission-driven environment focused on public service, innovation in sustainable energy, operational excellence, and safety. Emphasis on collaboration and contributing to New York State's energy goals.
The headquarters is pivotal for managing New York State's largest power provider, coordinating a vast network of generation and transmission assets crucial for the state's economy and energy security.
While primarily focused on New York State, NYPA's operations have an international dimension through its significant interconnections with the Canadian power grid, particularly via the St. Lawrence-FDR project and transmission ties near Niagara. This allows for robust energy exchange and contributes to regional grid stability across the U.S.-Canada border. NYPA also engages in knowledge sharing and adopts best practices from the global energy industry concerning renewable energy integration, grid modernization, and decarbonization efforts.
