The National Governors Association (NGA) is the premier bipartisan organization of the nation's 55 state and territorial governors. Through NGA, governors share best practices, speak with a collective voice on national policy, and develop innovative solutions to improve citizens' lives. NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services that include representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal issues, and developing and implementing solutions to public policy challenges. Its Center for Best Practices offers information, research, and technical assistance to governors on a wide range of policy areas.
Serves as the central hub for NGA's operations, including policy development, advocacy, research, and coordination of activities among state governors and their staff.
Located within the Hall of the States, a building specifically designed to house offices for state governments and related associations, facilitating easy interaction with federal entities.
A professional, policy-driven environment focused on bipartisan collaboration, research, and effective communication to support state leaders.
Its Washington D.C. location is crucial for direct engagement with federal policymakers, administrative agencies, and other national organizations, enabling NGA to effectively represent governors' interests.
The National Governors Association is primarily focused on the United States, serving the governors of its states and territories. While it may engage in international dialogues or study tours to learn from global best practices in governance, it does not maintain operational offices outside the U.S. Its 'global' aspect involves sharing and adapting innovative governance solutions that may have international parallels.
