McLaren Racing Ltd. is one of the most successful and historic names in global motorsport. Founded by New Zealand racer Bruce McLaren in 1963, the team has achieved immense success, including 20 Formula 1 World Championships (12 Drivers', 8 Constructors'), 183 Formula 1 Grand Prix victories, three Indianapolis 500 wins, and victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring. Today, under the leadership of CEO Zak Brown, McLaren Racing competes in five series: Formula 1 with drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri; the NTT IndyCar Series with Arrow McLaren drivers Pato O'Ward, Alexander Rossi, and Théo Pourchaire (covering for injured David Malukas); the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with NEOM McLaren Formula E Team drivers Jake Hughes and Sam Bird; and the Extreme E Championship with the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team. McLaren Racing is renowned for its pioneering technology, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of performance, building on its rich heritage while embracing the future of motorsport.
The MTC serves as the primary design, research and development, manufacturing, and operational hub for McLaren Racing's Formula 1 team and provides central support for its other racing ventures. It houses advanced engineering facilities, workshops, a state-of-the-art wind tunnel, simulators, and the McLaren Racing Mission Control.
Designed by renowned architect Norman Foster, the MTC is famous for its futuristic, semi-circular glass-walled design fronting an artificial lake. The lake helps cool the building and the wind tunnel. It includes a 'boulevard' showcasing historic McLaren race cars and the McLaren Thought Leadership Centre.
The work culture at the MTC is characterized by high performance, precision, innovation, and collaboration. It's a fast-paced environment driven by the demands of elite motorsport, with a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and teamwork.
The MTC is a symbol of McLaren's technological prowess, commitment to innovation, and rich motorsport heritage. It's not just a workplace but an inspiration, embodying the brand's core values and ambitions.
McLaren Racing Ltd. maintains a significant global presence through its participation in international motorsport championships. While core operations are centralized at the MTC in the UK, and specific team bases exist (e.g., Indianapolis for IndyCar, Bicester for Electric Racing), the company supports extensive trackside operations, engineering teams, marketing, and commercial activities across numerous countries on multiple continents where Formula 1, IndyCar, Formula E, and Extreme E events are held. This includes temporary operational setups at race circuits worldwide, providing logistical and technical support.
