While LACNIC's primary operational mandate covers Latin America and the Caribbean, it maintains a significant global presence through active collaboration within the international Internet governance ecosystem. This includes close partnerships with the other four Regional Internet Registries (RIRs: AFRINIC, APNIC, ARIN, RIPE NCC) via the Number Resource Organization (NRO). LACNIC also actively participates in global forums such as ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the Internet Society (ISOC), and various UN-led initiatives like the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
