Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International is a global non-profit organization committed to teaching 'People Safety' skills to protect individuals of all ages and abilities from bullying, violence, abuse, and other harm. Founded in 1989 by Irene van der Zande, Kidpower provides positive, practical, and effective workshops, consultations, and educational resources to children, teens, adults, and professionals. Their core belief is that everyone deserves to feel safe, and that safety skills can be learned and practiced like any other skill. Kidpower programs are adaptable and culturally relevant, reaching diverse communities worldwide through direct services and by training instructors to deliver their curriculum.
Serves as the central hub for global operations, curriculum development, training of instructors, resource distribution, and administrative support for Kidpower's worldwide network of centers and programs.
As a non-profit focused on outreach and program delivery, the Santa Cruz office is primarily an administrative and coordination center rather than a large physical campus. Its focus is on functional support for global activities.
The work culture at Kidpower HQ is mission-driven, collaborative, and dedicated to child and vulnerable person safety. Staff are passionate about empowerment and positive change, fostering an environment of respect, continuous learning, and global outreach.
The Santa Cruz headquarters is significant as the birthplace and central coordinating body of the Kidpower movement, from which global strategies, educational materials, and training initiatives are disseminated.
Kidpower supports a global network of instructors and centers, delivering its 'People Safety' curriculum in numerous countries across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia/Oceania. Functions supported globally include instructor certification and training, curriculum translation and adaptation, online resource provision, advocacy for child safety, and collaboration with international NGOs, schools, and community organizations to promote violence prevention and empowerment skills worldwide.
