The International Swimming Hall of Fame, Inc. (ISHOF) is a not-for-profit educational organization located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Established in 1965, its mission is to promote the benefits and importance of swimming as a key to fitness, good health, aquatic safety, and fun. ISHOF serves as the central point for the study of the history of swimming in the United States and around the world, collecting aquatic artifacts and memorabilia, and recognizing outstanding individuals in aquatic sports through its prestigious Hall of Fame induction.
Serves as the primary museum, archive, administrative center, and public interface for the organization. It houses exhibits, historical records, and hosts events.
The new facility (opening in phases) will feature modern interactive exhibits, an expanded museum space, research library, and integration with the world-class Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center, including its 27-meter dive tower and multiple pools. Historically, the original building was an iconic structure in the swimming community.
A mission-driven environment focused on preserving aquatic history, educating the public, and celebrating excellence in swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming. Staff are passionate about aquatic sports and its heritage.
The headquarters is a global landmark for aquatic sports, attracting visitors, researchers, and athletes from around the world. It's the premier institution for recognizing and immortalizing the greatest names in aquatic history.
While its physical headquarters and museum are located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the International Swimming Hall of Fame has a significant global presence. This is achieved through its international induction of honorees from countries worldwide, partnerships with international aquatic federations (like World Aquatics), its online resources and digital archives accessible globally, and its role in setting historical precedents and recognizing achievements across all aquatic disciplines internationally. It serves as a global authority on aquatic history and achievement.
