Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) is the United States' first and only fellowship program wholly dedicated to meeting the critical need for high-quality legal assistance for immigrants. IJC recruits, trains, and places talented lawyers and college graduates in legal aid organizations and community-based institutions to provide free and low-cost legal services to low-income immigrants facing complex legal challenges, including deportation, asylum claims, and paths to citizenship. Their model aims to build a new generation of immigrant rights leaders and expand access to justice.
Serves as the central administrative and operational hub for the national fellowship program, including fellow recruitment, training curriculum development, fundraising, and strategic partnerships.
Located in a commercial office building in Lower Manhattan, providing accessible space for staff and training activities. The focus is on functionality and collaboration rather than architectural grandeur.
Mission-driven, passionate, and collaborative. The environment fosters dedication to immigrant rights, continuous learning, and a supportive atmosphere for staff and fellows committed to social justice.
The HQ is the nerve center for a national program, coordinating efforts to place legal advocates where they are most needed and developing innovative approaches to immigrant legal services.
Immigrant Justice Corps's operations are focused within the United States. They achieve a national presence by strategically placing their legal fellows in partner organizations across numerous states, particularly those with high immigrant populations and significant unmet legal needs. While their direct service delivery is domestic, the issues they address (asylum, human rights, family reunification) have international dimensions, and their model for legal aid can serve as an example globally.
