Florida Coastal School of Law (FCSL) was a private, for-profit law school located in Jacksonville, Florida. Founded in 1996, it was part of the InfiLaw System, a consortium of for-profit law schools. FCSL offered a Juris Doctor (JD) program and various certificate programs. Throughout its later years, the school faced significant scrutiny regarding its bar passage rates and student outcomes, leading to challenges with its accreditation by the American Bar Association (ABA). After a period of probation and attempts to rectify its standing, FCSL lost its ABA accreditation. The school ceased admitting new students in 2021 and implemented a teach-out plan for its remaining students, ultimately leading to its closure in 2023. Its history serves as a case study in the challenges faced by for-profit legal education institutions.
Formerly served as the main and only campus for all academic, administrative, and student life activities of the law school. The facility is no longer in use by the school.
The campus featured a modern law library, moot courtrooms, classrooms, and student common areas designed to support legal education.
Historically, the campus aimed to foster a professional and studious environment for legal training. As primarily a commuter school, the culture was focused on academic pursuits and preparation for legal careers.
This was the sole physical location for FCSL, central to its identity and operations throughout its existence. Its closure marked the end of the institution's physical presence.
Florida Coastal School of Law was a U.S.-based institution focused on legal education primarily for students within the United States. It did not have a significant global presence or international campuses. Its activities were centered on its Jacksonville, Florida campus until its closure.
