The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) was founded in 2015 by Dr. Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg to help solve some of society's toughest challenges — from eradicating disease and improving education, to reforming the criminal justice system. CZI is a new kind of philanthropy that's leveraging technology to help driving change and build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone. Their work is organized into three core initiatives: Science, Education, and Justice & Opportunity. They pair engineering with grant-making, impact investing, policy, and advocacy work to help accelerate progress in these areas.
Serves as the central hub for CZI's operations, strategic planning, grant-making, technological development, and collaboration across its Science, Education, and Justice & Opportunity initiatives.
Modern, open-plan office spaces designed to foster collaboration and innovation among its diverse teams of technologists, scientists, educators, and policy experts. Features advanced technology infrastructure to support its mission.
CZI's work culture is mission-driven, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, urgency, and impact. Employees are encouraged to think big, take risks, and work across disciplines to solve complex problems.
The headquarters represents the core of CZI's philanthropic efforts, bringing together resources and talent to drive significant social impact and technological advancements for public benefit.
While its primary operations are based in California, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative supports programs, research collaborations, and grantees across the United States and in various countries worldwide. Its global presence is primarily felt through its funding and partnerships in scientific research, educational development, and justice reform initiatives, rather than a network of international corporate offices.
