The Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC) is a dedicated component of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reserve Force. It consists of specially trained officers whose primary duty is the safety, supervision, administration, and training of Royal Canadian Sea, Army, and Air Cadets. CIC officers work with youth aged 12 to 18 in communities across Canada, delivering the Cadet Program, which aims to develop attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness, and stimulate an interest in the sea, land, and air activities of the CAF. These officers are vital to the success of one of Canada's premier youth development programs.
Serves as the national command and administrative center for the Cadet Instructors Cadre, under the direction of the Natl CJCR Sp Gp. It oversees policy, training standards, and resource allocation for the CIC.
Located within the National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) complex, a key hub for Canadian Armed Forces operations and administration.
Professional, disciplined, and dedicated, reflecting military values and a strong commitment to youth development through the Cadet Program. Focus on mentorship and creating a positive learning environment for cadets.
Central to the effective functioning and national standardization of the Cadet Instructors Cadre, ensuring quality leadership and instruction for Canada's cadets nationwide.
The Cadet Instructors Cadre primarily operates within Canada, supporting the Royal Canadian Sea, Army, and Air Cadet programs. The focus is on community-based youth development across all Canadian provinces and territories. While some cadets and instructors may participate in international exchanges, competitions, or commemorative activities abroad, the CIC's core mission, infrastructure, and regular operations are domestic to Canada.
