Camp Boggy Creek, co-founded by actor/philanthropist Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, is a year-round medical camp that provides seriously ill children and their families with a free, safe, and medically-sound camp environment. Located in Eustis, Florida, the camp offers children with conditions like cancer, heart disease, epilepsy, and other chronic or life-threatening illnesses a chance to experience the joys of childhood, foster friendships, and build self-esteem, all while receiving the necessary medical care. It is a member of the SeriousFun Children's Network.
The Eustis campus serves as the primary site for all camp sessions, medical care, volunteer coordination, program development, and administrative operations.
The campus features themed, accessible cabins, a state-of-the-art medical facility (The Patch), an adaptive ropes course, a swimming pool, stables for equine programs, a performing arts theater, an arts & crafts center, and a large dining hall, all designed to be inclusive and medically supportive.
The work culture at Camp Boggy Creek is deeply mission-driven, characterized by compassion, dedication, and a collaborative spirit among staff and volunteers. There's a strong emphasis on creating a joyful, safe, and empowering experience for campers and their families.
The headquarters is significant as it's the heart of the organization, where thousands of children with serious illnesses have experienced transformative camp programs, building confidence and creating lifelong memories.
While Camp Boggy Creek's physical campus is in Florida, it is an integral part of the SeriousFun Children's Network, a global community of 30 camps and programs founded by Paul Newman. This network spans across the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Israel, sharing best practices and a common mission to provide transformative experiences to children with serious illnesses worldwide. Through this affiliation, Camp Boggy Creek contributes to and benefits from a global effort.
