Founded in 1904 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune as the Daytona Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls, it merged with Cookman Institute of Jacksonville, Florida, in 1923 to become Bethune-Cookman College. It achieved university status in 2007. B-CU is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is dedicated to educating a diverse student body for leadership and service.
