The Alley Theatre, founded in 1947, is one of America’s leading nonprofit theatres and a nationally recognized performing arts company located in Houston, Texas. Led by Artistic Director Rob Melrose and Managing Director Dean R. Gladden, the Alley produces a wide range of theatrical experiences, from reinvigorated classics and beloved musicals to contemporary works and new plays by emerging writers. It is home to a Resident Company of actors and engages a multitude of theatre artists. The Alley Theatre is committed to artistic excellence, community engagement, and educational programming, reaching over 200,000 people annually.
