The Air National Guard (ANG) is a federal military reserve force of the United States Air Force, as well as the air militia of each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It serves a dual mission: a federal mission to support national security objectives under the command of the President, and a state mission to protect life and property and preserve peace, order, and public safety under the command of their respective governors. ANG members are 'Citizen Airmen' who often serve part-time in their home communities, maintaining civilian careers while being ready to deploy for domestic emergencies or global military operations.
The ANGRC is responsible for formulating plans, policies, and programs for the Air National Guard. It ensures the combat readiness and operational effectiveness of ANG units nationwide, managing resources, training, and personnel to support both federal and state missions.
Located on a major joint military installation, ANGRC benefits from robust infrastructure, advanced communication systems, and secure facilities. Its proximity to national leadership is a key feature.
The work culture at ANGRC is mission-driven, professional, and collaborative, reflecting military standards. It focuses on supporting over 108,000 Airmen across the nation, emphasizing readiness, innovation, and inter-agency cooperation.
ANGRC is crucial for the operational command and administrative control of the Air National Guard, ensuring that units are prepared and resourced to meet diverse challenges, from domestic disaster response to overseas combat deployments.
The Air National Guard supports U.S. Air Force missions globally. This includes deployments for combat operations, air superiority, strategic airlift, air refueling, intelligence gathering, special operations, and cyber defense. ANG units also participate in international training exercises, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief operations worldwide, and support National Guard State Partnership Programs with over 100 countries.
